I am so whole heartedly with you on this... and I can't believe I hadn't heard this before you brought it up. Like yourself I was faced with a pregnancy at 15 that I didn't keep. Looking back I never would have graduated from HS and I would have resented the baby. This country and it's ideas are slowly sliding back into the dark ages. Panic should be setting in people. Kudos for having the balls for standing up for what you believe in!

I also had an abortion. I was 22. I think about that baby every time I see another baby. My sister just had a baby and it's so difficult seeing her, watching her grow up and knowing my own child would have already gone through all that. My point in saying that is that we are each responsible for our own bodies and our own actions. If abortion is "morally" wrong, then those of us who choose to have one will have to pay the price if and when the time comes. Governors, doctors, pharmacists, your parents, nobody can claim to be repsonsible for your actions or your decisions. What about all the young kids up that way (Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota) that are getting so strung out on drugs? I just read a news article on how those states are really being affected by drugs - at very early ages - and that seems a far bigger SOCIETAL issue than women who choose to have an abortion. Have you also read the articles whereby certain pharmacists across the country are choosing to NOT dispense BIRTH CONTROL pills to UNMARRIED WOMEN, based on RELIGION? Fucking bunch of bullshit, that! So, instead, let's fuck the welfare system over with a bunch of unwanted babies born to mothers who cannot care for them - not just economically, but emotionally, too. And, I agree with all of your scenarios for the Governor's daughter, but she can just as easily get knocked up by a rich boy and I've found it's the rich, educated boys who are less inclined to take care of their repsonsibilities, and push for abortion more than the girls. The whole thing pisses me off, and I'm glad to see someone feels just as strongly. The US will do all they can to protect our "babies" but then when they come of age, they're sending them off to Iraq to get KILLED anyhow! Tell us, George Bush, how much do you care about our babies now? Fucking morals is right.

Wordy McWord. I was planning a very similar entry but you have said it all. It pisses me off, and it has little to do with "morals" and a lot to do with mysogyny. Fuckers!

I agree with 110%. And you know that I gave you that "Bitch of the Year" award all in good fun...I hope you know that. I LOVE YOU! Anyway, this entry reminded me of a project I did in religion class no less, in a private, Catholic High School. The subject was pro-death penalty or anti-death penalty. I took the pro stance and gave all the anti stance folks some scenarios in which their daughter/son had been brutally, and I mean brutally, raped, tortured, and murdered. I asked them how they would feel and what they would want to happen to the murderer who would dare do such a thing to their child. Almost 100% argued that they would want that person to be killed. Just goes to show...when it becomes personal, the politics change. Good entry, my love. xoxo - me
